ABOUT DALBERG DATA INSIGHTS
We are seeing an increasing gap in awareness and adoption of AI in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), which can lead to long-term and irreversible digital divide between LMICs and High-Income Countries. At Dalberg Data Insights, we democratize AI access for impactful organizations by:
1. Designing AI/data strategies and solutions
2. Providing AI literacy training to our clients and partners
3. Piloting AI/data solutions
4. Consulting on Responsible AI practices
5. Developing & scaling advanced AI analysts and advisors, aia2, designed to transform data into actionable insights.

ABOUT THE AI FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Dalberg Data Insights is looking for one AI Design Fellow who can join the team. As an AI Design Fellow, you'll play a key role in shaping how we communicate our AI and developmental impact work through compelling visual storytelling and user-centered design. The AI Fellowship program will help you to discover your strengths and use them to grow into the job that fits you best. As entrepreneurship and creativity is highly valued at DDI, we also encourage AI Fellows to drive their own initiatives related to design for development.

What Suceess Looks Like:
While full-time employment is not guaranteed following the 6-month fellowship, we aim to offer permanent positions to fellows who excel in the program. SCOPE OF POSITION
As an AI Design Fellow, you will:
- Become an active member of project teams, supporting visual communication and alternative design needs across DDI's work as it arises.
- Translate problem statements into user journeys, flows, wireframes, and refined UIs for web dashboards and field tools.
- Create lightweight prototypes and support light user feedback/testing to inform iterations.
- Design communication materials and other visual collateral for various DDI initiatives.
- Design presentations, reports, and data visualizations that communicate complex information clearly.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and consultants to ensure designs ship as intended.
- Contribute to simple design standards (components, file hygiene, accessibility awareness).
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to client challenges.
- Help establish design standards and processes as part of building the design function.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Visual and Interaction Design:
- Strong visual communication abilities including typography, color theory, composition, and layout design.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, or similar platforms.
- Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product work (problem → process → outcome), including academic projects, freelance, or professional work
- UX and User-Centered Thinking:
- Demonstrated ability to think critically about user needs and context, even without formal HCD training.
- Basic understanding of UX/UI principles and ability to create low- to mid-fidelity prototypes.
- Clear, concise UX writing and micro-copy skills.
- Ability to support light user feedback/testing to inform iterations.
- Problem-Solving and Iteration:
- Strong ideation and brainstorming capabilities to generate multiple creative solutions.
- Ability to approach design challenges from different angles.
- Openness to feedback and iterative design processes.
- Comfort with ambiguity and building in a new, evolving function.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Ability to articulate design decisions and rationale clearly to both designers and non-designers.
- Strong presentation skills to share design work with stakeholders and clients.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineers, consultants, project managers).
- Interest in AI products and data-heavy interfaces.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 0–2 years of experience in product/UX/UI or content design.
- Exposure to design systems, data visualization, or simple product communications.
